Angela’s Amazing Azalea!

Azalea
8×10 oil on canvas
I got to know Angela Elledge through Karin Jurick’s Different Strokes from Different Folks Blog. She is one the first group of artists from this challenge that I started following earlier this year. Angela is an experienced plein air painter but I’ve always admired her pet portraits and her figural paintings. Her movie star looks and her love for cows and long horns make her such an interesting person as well.
This is Angela’s first contribution for the Art for Animals project! Her friend decided to take Azalea from a shelter where she had been for over 100 days to try and give her the comforts of a home until she found her forever home. Angela plans to give this beautiful painting to Azalea’s new family.
Please check out Angela’s wonderful website and blog. See if you can find a couple of my favorite paintings: Lucy, Four on the Floor and Old Eyebrows.
Thank you so much Angela!

what would your pet mean on your family crest?

admin | Pet News | Thursday, 30 July 2009

Maybe you’d like to make your own family crest. Why not, right? (They had to come from somewhere.) And why not work your beloved family pet in there? Let’s see if the ancient standards of heraldry equate your dear critter with the qualities you desire to advertise.

At this page, I learned that:
Dog = Courage, vigilance, and loyalty
Cat = Liberty, vigilance, forecast, and courage
Squirrel = Lover of the woods
Rabbit (also called Conie) = One who enjoys a peaceable and retired life

Should you happen to have a pet rhino, that’s = ferocious when aroused.
I laughed out loud when I came to the definition of Woman = Various meanings. You best believe it!

Have a look at your options courtesy of the page by Fleur-De-Lis Designs. This is an extensive subject and I reserve the right to look at it more tomorrow.

Foster Home Needed: Jonnie Cakes

admin | Pet News | Thursday, 30 July 2009

Jonnie is a new arrival from Red Lake Rosie’s Rescue. Jonnie is a 2 year old shepherd mix who has clearly had a rough start in life. She came in covered with ticks and has a tear on her ear. She is sweet as pie though and rode well in the car for our transporter. Not much is known about her at this point, but she will be moving to one of our doggy daycare boarding partners today, where we will get more information about how she does with other dogs and what her personality is like. If you are interested in taking a chance on Jonnie Cakes, please email pethavendogs@yahoo.com
